I'm the Director of the Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office (film commission), and in my spare time (what little there is!), I create children's multimedia music, video, books, web and other projects to serve early childhood learning, language arts and literacy through my " www.storygenie.com " persona. I am a readaholic, gobbling down at least one or two novels a week, if not more; love movies (seeing at least 2 or 3 a week), and live theater. Spent a dozen years in the private sector as a writer/producer/creative director for film, television and video production, and have been in government as a film commissioner for a decade - 9 years in Las Vegas for the State of NV and over 1 year now in Sarasota (thank goodness!).

Best thing about living in Sarasota
Too many things to count! But especially love the sunset into the Gulf of Mexico, the arts and entertainment culture, the balmy tropical weather, the fabulous food, the talented and delightful people, the beauty and quality of life in general.
Worst things about living in Sarasota
That I can't sit on the soft white sugar sand every night to watch the sunset into the Gulf.
Interests & Hobbies
Writing, reading, singing & composing, children's literacy and language arts; cooking, movies, motorcycles, and would do fine arts if I had more time.

Thanks Rick -- I've been out of town until this morning so as you can guess, I'm digging out from under a mountain of "to do List" items. But I'll add this one to it, too! I love your new website -- great job!
My best to you,
Jeanne

Yes, "Greatest Show on Earth" filmed their circus parade on main street (in fact, my husband was a small child in the crowd with his parents! :) You can also buy copies of that movie at the Ringling Museum Visitors Center gift shop). We're hoping to one day again have a "circus" themed movie shoot here, and are always digging around to find projects that could fit and attract them here to shoot!
Thanks for the kind words.
Hi - Thanks for joining the book readers club. Wow you do some awesome work. Can you confirm it was the Greatest Show on Earth that was filmed in downtown Sarasota? I heard this as a "myth" and never did confirm it but when I look at the old pictures of Sarasota I do believe that it is Main Street.
