I grew up in the theatre (Sarasota Players, Golden Apple, etc.) and my family is very involved in it professionally...my husband is the TD for the Asolo Theatre and my parents are producers at the Florida Studio Theatre. And I used to run a high school drama program and I was part of the Sarasota Opera House Renovation...but I rarely get to the theatre (can you believe that??)

Twas The Diet After Christmas
This was sent to me and I thought it was a riot.
Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese… Continue

Are you ready for the New Year?
Not only is this a time of celebration, but it is also a time of self-reflection. We often look back on the year and think about all of the things that have happened that will help us decide on what to do in the year to come. For some of us, the things that happened in 2008 have been monumental: a new President, the economy, the war, the environment...the end of this year truly signifies the end of an era and the beginning of a new.
