What makes Sarasota Great? 358 words
By Stu Gold
Sarasota has so much to offer, great restaurants, amazing theater, our very own film festival, intimate clubs, posh stores, and beautiful architecture and scenery. All contribute to making Sarasota a great place to live and laugh, to visit and love.
Like any great city there are special attractions like the Mote Aquarium, and St. Armand’s Circle that tourist and residents enjoy. There are also the less know but extremely enjoyable places that only residents seem to know, places like the Cock and Bull, the 4 G’s coffee shop or the Cabaña Inn.
Nature has helped out as well, and Siesta Key, Turtle Island, and Longboat Key are just three examples of the bounty of nature. Of course we have fabulous beaches, and the sunsets are spectacular. When nature wants to put on a fireworks display nothing compares to the lightening we get here.
But what truly makes it a great town, are the people. Yes, all different types, ages, sexes, and backgrounds, yet united in this great town. People in Sarasota are friendly, aware and full of life. They come from all over, but when they get here they all adopt a laid back happy attitude that makes life pleasant and joyful. Strangers nod hello on the streets, drivers will stop and let you pull out into traffic, and nobody that’s been here awhile blows their horn! Sarasota is unique in that it has the charm of the southerner mixed with the sophistication of the northerner; it is a mixture most pleasant, which results in this town being the artistic center of the whole south. Theater, live music, film, art, sculpture, and architecture are at their best here in Sarasota. This attracts great restaurateurs and club owners as well. With all of that the city is still intimate and cozy, the population isn’t so large that people feel lost or feel the coldness of a big city, on the contrary, Sarasota has the feeling of a small town, where people care about each other, and help each other. I’ve lived all over, but nothing and no place compares to Sarasota, it is great, and I love living here.

Is there a blocking mechanism on this site? Some button I can press so I do not have to see Dr. Swier's face and encounter his monotonous, one-sided, homophobic, radical monologues every time I log on?
If there isn't, may I suggest you post one? The man's bad news, but thank goodness one of a dying generation.
Hope to see you at the Casting Shadows show, if you can make it Thursday August 7th at 7:30pm for an 8:00pm show, it is our final dress rehersal, invited audience only and no charge. So come on down and bring some friends, should be a fun night.

from Sarasota Magazine invited me to join...it sounds like a great
site and I look forward to being a part of it.
My chocolate lab came from Englewood and was a rescue as well.
Enjoy the weekend....it couldn't be any more beautiful, could it?
Best, Sharron
