Everyone is going to need a REALLY BIG BELLY LAUGH after the holidays... so get your butts to The Players! Each show is the opening and closing night. No two shows are the same! In the second act you will see "The Pinter" an entirely improvised play, BACKWARDS! (more info...)

This Weekend is for YOU!

Instant Line Learning & Cold Reading Weekend

September 26th & 27th in Sarasota

Memorize 3 to 5 pages in 15 Minutes!!

Overcome The Actor's Number One Fear in ONE WEEKEND!

Memorizing your lines is the single greatest advantage you can have going into an audition, yet most actors don't have a reliable technique for memorizing lines quickly and effectively.

If you have learned that "memorization is difficult" or "you are a slow learner" or "getting the 'jist' of the scene is good enough" or any of the other common beliefs that keep actors from learning their lines, then you are probably not booking the types of roles needed to gain a reputation as a dependable and competent actor.

In ONE WEEKEND, you can learn how to memorize 3 to 5 pages VERBATIM in less than 15 minutes. This technique has been taught at KVG Acting for 20 years and many of the 'bookers' in Central Florida use it religiously. Based on the Weatherford Technique, created by New York soap opera contract player, Russ Weatherford, 'The Instant Line Learning Technique' was developed from several undisputable facts:

•An actor who is thinking about his lines CANNOT be thinking and feeling what the CHARACTER is thinking and feeling.

•Actors who have their lines memorized consistently do better in auditions.

•'Improvising' lines on a set makes matching and editing a nightmare.

•Your acting profession will be much more enjoyable and successful when you know how to memorize quickly and effectively

What's the 'secret' to memorization? Simple: MAKE IT A GAME!

•Do you dread having t0 memorize lines?

•What if you NEVER had to memorize lines again?

•What if you could 'play games' instead of memorizing?

•What if learning lines actually became FUN?

•What if the process of learning lines helped in making strong character choices?

•What if you actually LOOKED FORWARD to LEARNING THE LINES as much as you do PERFORMING them?

In One Weekend you will learn several LINE LEARNING GAMES that will enable you to memorize 3 to 5 pages VERBATIM within 15 minutes, AND EVEN FASTER WITH PRACTICE!!

Hi everyone! Brand new here to the site and wanted to just... well, say hi! ;)
Pat McCall Comment by Pat McCall on March 7, 2009 at 1:46pm
A very timely comment, Cliff. I am no playwright, but I have already sent a one minute play to Jeff. I challenge everyone in this group to do the same!
Best,
Pat

"GOT A MINUTE?" needs one-minute plays!
Please send them to eclectic_tc@comcast.net
Jeffery Kin, Artistic Director of the Sarasota Players, is the founder of "etc", the eclectic theatre company, and its one-minute play festival "Got A Minute", which is being held this summer for the fourth time.
Other founder members include Pam Wiley, Bob Trisolini and yours truly.
We need PLAYS!
Jeff has put out the following request:
Dear Playwright, Actor and Supporter!
THE TIME IS NOW for you to get involved in finding the cure for breast cancer, to delight in an exhilarating and creative fund raising event, and to know you are doing something very special for others at the same time.

In less than six months from now, on September 4, 5 & 6 2009, the Eclectic Theatre Company & The Players Theatre will present three performances of our annual One-Minute Play Festival GOT A MINUTE?, benefiting The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

GOT A MINUTE? 2006 raised over $11,000!
GOT A MINUTE? 2007 raised $20,000, and
GOT A MINUTE? 2008 raised $25,000.
This year’s goal is another $25,000 to help fund Breast Cancer Research.
GOT ANOTHER MINUTE? As always our talented cast and crew are ready to perform all new one-minute plays, and, NOW WE NEED PLAYS! All scripts are written by local, national and international writers, and the show will be once again produced, directed, choreographed and performed by some of the areas finest talent.
The theme is simple ..."Overcoming Adversity"!
WHAT A GREAT TIME to be part of this arts community effort. As you have been reading this, someone has been diagnosed with breast cancer. In just a few minutes more, someone has died of breast cancer. A minute can be a very long time. You can also help us by being a major sponsor of the event.
NOW IS THE TIME! If you have contributed in the past we thank you again for your generous support and look forward to your continuing participation. You know what a great event this is. If not, won’t you join us for GOT A MINUTE? 2009 and be a part of one of the most unique fundraising ventures in Sarasota!?
TAKE A MINUTE PLEASE, write a play, be a sponsor, volunteer...join us!!! A bad economy will not stop us from doing GREAT THINGS!
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
Jeffery Kin, Founder of etc.
P.S. Simply email your ONE MINUTE plays to eclectic_tc@comcast.net.

Hi all. Pop over to www.anythingartssarasota.ning.com And check out the new AnythingArts.com website. It is centered around the arts and uses the same social community platform you enjoy here (in fact, Brian helped us create it). You can even sign in with your Sarasota Local password, it's that simple. Next week, we will announce the new site to the rest of the area. Right now, you are invited to enjoy a sneek preview. After the public announcement the new site will be at AnythingArts.com. So, see you soon. Christine, Peg and Rick

Welcome to our little group here at SarasotaLocal, Dayle! I thought I'd let everyone see my "leading Understudy" as she appeared in SCENE Magazine three months ago!

Hello Everyone! So happy to see a local circle going!
Thanks Cliff! Look forward to sharing and getting to know those that I've never met before and hopefully making some serious connections! I'm mostly a film / tv / commercial actress as well as voice overs and spokesperson/host. I would love to do theater but, I haven't gotten voice training yet (and need it)!
